Yay! It is finally starting to warm up a bit and I have been so anxious to get out shoot. Chenowa and I have been trying to put this engagement session together since before Christmas and it finally worked out. This session was actually a Christmas gift from Jerel's parents. They are getting married in August - Congratulations guys! I wish you much happiness as you start your life together.

We had a great time on our trip to Vegas! Based on our very non-scientific calculations, we walked at least ten miles in three days going to and from the convention. We went to some great classes, heard some amazing photographers and found some cool new products.
This is Angie, Melanie, me, Sonnet, & Sandra at a mock wedding that was set up with five of the top wedding photographers in the world.

This is one of my favorite children's photographers - Audrey Woulard. She is an amazing photographer and an even more amazing person. She was so generous with her knowledge and we had lots of fun getting to know her. We went to her class two hours early so we could get a front row seat.

Sonnet & I kept saying how fun it would be to photograph a bride in Vegas. As we were getting ready to go home, we were lugging our bags to the curb so I could pull my car around to get everything loaded and this bride walked out of the hotel. We asked her if we could get a few shots of her before she left in her limousine. It was about a 5 minute session, but so fun!

Wow, if you are still checking my blog, I must apolize for my neglect lately. After such a busy fall, it's nice to have some downtime, but I know that makes my blog super boring! So thanks for checking in, things will be picking up in the next few weeks. I'm heading to Las Vegas today for WPPI - a huge photography tradeshow with amazing photographers from around the country offering classes. Needless to say, I'm a tad bit excited! Hopefully, I'll come back with lots of fun new ideas and products. And hopefully I'll have some pictures to share!

I post pictures of puppies! Not that I don't like puppies - I do, but a pet photgrapher - I AM NOT! It was kind of like three - two year olds running around. We were bored today and one of the girls at work is trying to sell her puppies, so we decided to have a mini photo shoot. We would get two looking my directions and it never failed the other one would have his rear toward the camera! After a while they settled down and were lucky enough to get a few cute ones. So, if you are looking for a new puppy, let me know and I can hook you up :o)

As I sit here editing pictures, I can't help but smile. I am in LOVE with my new camera (Canon 5D Mark II) - it ROCKS, I found an awesome "junkyard" full of old trucks and buses in every color you can imagine, and I got to take pictures of a very nice young man from Boise. Meet Taylor, who was such a sport. I made him trudge through deep snow in his sneakers - but it was so worth it! The snow was like a huge reflector, and the light was awesome . . . It was a good day :o)

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and safe & happy New Year! It was great having a few days off for rest & relaxation - I planned on sharing some personal family Christmas pictures, but my camera quit working 3 days before Christmas - so it is getting fixed and all I had for family stuff was my little point & shoot. It must be operator error - I can work my big camera no problem, but give me a fully auto camera and it's not good! Most of my pictures are blurry and my kids have major red eye! Well, vacation is over for me - I have lots of January sessions. This was my last 2008 session - Aren't they so cute? Meet the Stender family who came all the way from Wyoming to spend time with family here. We snuck in a quick session. It was pretty cold, so we didn't have much time before little Griffin's nose was bright red!

Erica & Estevan are cousins and we thought it would be fun to do their session together. Remember how cold it was on Saturday, well it was even colder on Sunday. There was super dense fog all morning and thankfully it lifted just as their session started, but I think that only made it colder. Their moms and I had on our heavy winter coats, scarves, gloves, and hot chocolate in hand!

Can't you tell they enjoy being around each other? I had the pleasure of meeting the Lloyd family last fall when I did some pictures for their extended family. Yesterday was a fun day! I got to meet up with an old friend - Katelynn's mom & I used to work together a LOOOOONG time ago, when our seniors were just babies. We both went different directions and hadn't seen each other for about 15 years. They live near Twin Falls now and saw my pictures through a mutual friend. Pretty cool, huh? Anyway, we were on the hunt for this cool alley - "freak alley" and I wont tell you how long we drove around looking for it. lol! (Thanks Cyndee for telling me about it :o) We found some other fun little spots in downtown Boise - it is always fun exploring a new setting!

Awwwe, aren't they just the cutest family? Such sweet boys as well. I always love seeing the interaction between siblings and Bailey and Blake were just so sweet to to their little bro' Brady . Yay! I got to use the "cool numbers" again and the feed store.
Dad came up with this pose - I think it turned out great! They were the perfect "stair-step" family from tallest to shortest.

What a great family! I met them last spring when I did their daughter Kylee's engagement photos. Then, in July, Sonnet & I got to spend a lot of time with them when we did the wedding. Their oldest son Garrett leaves Tuesday for a 2 year mission, so we got together for a fun family session.

This one cracks me up - The guys weren't really diggin' holding each others hands :o)When there is a two year old involved - you can't expect every picture to be perfect! lol!

BUSY, BUSY Weekend!

What a beautiful fall weekend, even with the rain showers! I finished up Sunday night with my cousin's beautiful family in downtown Boise. We found some really cool spots - you just can't beat an old red bridge!

Every time I go Albertsons Park in Boise, I look at these neat rocks engraved with letters and this was the first time one of them "worked" for a picture.

lol! Just for fun!

On Saturday, I met up with the Young family. Our session started just as it started to rain. These were ALL taken in the rain! I think Sabrina was VERY worried, but I think they turned out great!

Awe, don't you just LOVE that smile!

The kids did awesome, but as we got towards the end of the session, Devyn started to lose interest so we started saying things like "Go Broncos!" to get him to look & smile, as you can see we got some very enthusiastic hand signals as well :o)

And if you didn't believe they were BSU fans, they have the gear to prove it!

Michael and his sweet mom drove over from Boise yesterday for senior portraits. As with most guys, Michael wasn't exactly thrilled about getting his pictures taken, but I think we all had fun - and we tried not to torture him too much. I only made him do a few embarassing things :o)

I headed to Twin Falls last weekend for 3 family sessions and a fun senior session. Needless to say, I'm a bit behind with my editing! So stay tuned, because I have LOTS to share this week. We went to the Idaho Power park on the Snake River and it was BEAUTIFUL!

Can you tell that I like this spot? It is a great location for sunny days, when you need some shade, folige, and an old building with character! We were joking around because I told them they were going to be soooo easy after my last session (see below - 1 5yr old, 3 yr old, 6 month old - you get the picture;o) BUT, we did have kind of a hard time getting dad to smile!

Wow, I had a really, really busy Saturday! Three family sessions and Girl's League Pictures. The first session was my cousin's very cute little family. The kids did great, except for the part where Brylee informed us that it was "painful" to get pictures taken. You only have so long with a 5 year old, 3 year old, and six month old, and well, we went past it!

Jen wanted "fall" pictures, but when we started looking around, there really isn't a lot of color out there yet. We did find a few pockets of red,yellows, and greens - and of course they were all dressed in the perfect fall ensemble. Poor little Halle was fighting an ear infection, so she really wasn't too interested in anything besides being held by mommy. Kenzi & Brittyn were troopers and we were able to capture some really fun pictures.

I had so much fun doing this session. We went to some great locations, the lighting was perfect and the family was game for anything. I have some new all-time favorites . . .

Almost everyone had on flip-flops so I had them toss their shoes off to do some barefoot pics. One of the girls said,"Get it? Our last name is Foote!" So we had lots of fun getting "foote" pics ;o)

I was so excited to find this "treasure". We went and looked at this morning and I just couldn't pass it up. My husband thinks I'm crazy, because I am going to put it in our yard, but I think it is going to be so awesome! We have about a 1/2 acre that we are landscaping this fall so I will have an outdoor studio. It will have large boulders, LOTS of trees, flowers, and an old red truck ;o)

Fall Sessions are going, going . . .

I am feeling crazy blessed this year as my calendar continues to fill up daily. If you are planning to book a fall session (family or senior), space is very limited. I have 4 sessions left in October (no weekends) and only about 12 session left beyond that before the December cut-off. I will be booking my last session on December 7th and all orders must be in by December 13th for Christmas delivery.
I just wanted to give everyone a heads up, don't wait until the last minute. It is very hard for me to say no, but in order to keep my priorities in order, I have allocated only a certain number of sessions per week and once they are booked, that is it for the week.

On that same note, I am so excited to offer these beautiful Christmas Cards this year. This is just a small sampling of the designs I will be offereing. I can also change them a bit to make them a little more traditional (red & green), but I think these will go look gorgeous with fall pictures. I should have all of the templates ready to show by the end of the month and they will be under the gallery section of my website.

Another Sneak Peek

As I have mentioned before, one of the best parts of my job is reconnecting with old friends. I went to school with Tami and Devin, so I was so excited when she emailed me to do her family portraits. We decided we hadn't seen each other since our 10 year reunion (which was a few years ago ;o), so I had never met her beautiful kiddos. We had a great time exploring Katherine Albertson Park and the Train Depot in Boise. It is always fun to try out new spots. I love this one overlooking Boise . . .

You know what I love about all of these? Little Miss Olivia is just doing her own "thing" in almost all of them. I think that makes them so fun!

We were trying for the "kids in the front, mom & dad blurred in the back" picture. I just wasn't fast enough!

I couldn't have set this up better myself. It was all Olivia's idea.

I just started working on Kyle's pictures and I LOVE these three. Kyle is a senior at Fruitland High, and an amazing athlete. We took lots of pictures with all of his sports "stuff" for round 1. Lucky guy - he gets to do it all over again in a few weeks!

Our family went camping over the Labor Day Weekend, which worked out really well, because I had this fun session scheduled in McCall on Saturday. It is so fun meeting new people and this family was no exception! Aren't these two just the cutest? They were having a great time visiting grandma & grandpa's farm and I tagged along for a couple of hours to take some pictures. We crawled in the grass, explored around the barn, and even went down to the creek.

It just doesn't seem possible that my kid is a senor this year! I have already warned him that I get to do several mini sessions for his senior pictures. I know there is no way I could get him out for a long session, but I figure if I get a few here and a few there, I should have some great shots by the end of the year. We took these a couple weeks ago when we were in Twin Falls. Isn't he a cutie?

After all of these beautiful senior girls, I was lucky enough to get to photograph this very handsome young man. I know it is 180 degrees different for girls than boys when it comes to pictures, for most guys it is almost a form of torture. But Caleb was a good sport, and was even polite enough to say that he had fun!

Can you believe this was taken in Twin Falls? It almost looks like a tropical island, don't you think?

Kelsey brought her friend, Marissa along and we got a few of them together.Twin has the coolest old downtown area.

Needless to say, we hit the jackpot when we came across this old chair near this awesome wall.

With two weddings this month, I really didn't schedule very many family sessions, thus my lack of blogging. But definitely stay tuned, I have tons of shoots scheduled for August! I am traveling to Twin Falls this weekend to do some seniors, so that will be lots of fun. In the meantime, I thought I would share a fun project that I have been working on for the past few months. My friends, Shawna & Chris have developed the coolest way to "go green"! It is a very stylish, reusable shopping bag system. I have been taking lots of pictures for them to use in their marketing and I thought I would share a few with you. These would make awesome Christmas or Birthday presents and they are made right here in the good ol' USA! So, my last few sessions have included two year olds. Two year olds are amazing, BUT they do not like to sit still and look at the camera. I love this shot and it works great with little kids. I just love how Chase's little feet frame his face ;o)

I usually have a pretty high success rate with this one as well . .

This might just be one of the cutest things I have ever seen - She was playing in the pond and didn't realize it dropped off - very suddenly. So she got soaking wet, and we all started laughing. Poor thing, we made her cry and that was the end of our session.
